Thread size and pitch RT Desmo decompressor

Postby IanHood » Thu Oct 05, 2023 6:10 pm

Does anybody know the thread size and pitch of the decompressor hole in a 450 RT Desmo head? I don’t want to use a decompressor but need to find a suitable blanking plug.

Ian

M10 x1mm the same as a 10mm spark plug.

Thanks Nigel - so I’m thinking of using something like this with a copper washer. That should be fine I assume.

…and by the way Nigel, I received the springer head back today. Here’s another advertisement for you - a lovely guide and valve job but I would defy anyone without a microscope to identify where you carried out the welded repair to one of the valve cover bosses. Outstanding work!

Ian

Glad you are pleased with the work and thanks for your kind words.

That plug should work. It will leave a small recess in the chamber, but as long as it's no worse than a second plug or decompressor, I'm sure it won't cause any issue.
