screw for cover of superpractic throttle

Good morning-

I have two narrow case Ducatis- the Mach I has a complete superpractic with cover and screw. The Scrambler has a superpractic with a cover, and an in-correct screw that doesn't quite thread in all of the way- obviously wrong thread. The screw from the Mach I does successfully thread into the scrambler.

The parts manual states the screw is part number 0180.54.560 and is a 3ma x 3 ... but all 3mm screws in my hardware store are 3mm x .5 pitch, which seems too fine of a thread- as the screw from the hardware store does NOT thread into either superpractic. I think the correct screw seems to be a more-coarse thread.

Can anyone give me more information on this? I guess I COULD try to re-thread the part to accept the 3mm .5 pitch screw... but I would rather not.

SIncerely,

Good afternoon-
Yes, 3mm is usually .5 pitch, but… I don’t think that that is what the screw is, on the superpractic. At least, not on either of my two.

Mine both appear to be a coarser thread than .5.

Should it be 3mm by .5 pitch? Should I re-tap both of mine?

Sincerely,

Good evening-

Yes, I saw that- but wonder if THAT screw is 3mm by .5 pitch , or something odd, like what I have.

IF it is supposed to be .5 pitch, then I might as well use a tap, and buy a stainless-steel screw for 40 cents at my hardware store. I Have the cover... I just need the correct screw.

SIncerely,
