stray wire in headlamp.

Postby Bevel bob » Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:55 pm

My 250 mark 3 narrowcase has a stray brown wire in the headlamp , appears to have snapped , the secured end appears to come from the lighting switch , the system is similar to the european Mach 1 with a 60w alt and battery. Looking thro the literature the diagrams do not show the wire colours. The bike has been rebuilt from a racer and appears to use a 130 HL from a widecase bike. Anyone have access to a colour coded diagram ?.

Hi Dave, I thought the 250 Monza /Mach1 system was more like mine as i have a voltage /rectifier box (but modern type) and the 60 w 2 lead alternator with earthed coils unearthed and linked. The system is by no means standard except inside the HL it all looks very old timer but with a modern ign switch . The fact that its been working happily for the last 20 years and has done at least 50 days touring the IOM and the same number of laps at Jurby I am very loth to disturb its decrapitude !! and there are spiders in there.
