Is there anybody here with an unrestored yellow desmo that can tell me (preferably with a picture) the correct position of the ‘Made in Italy’ transfer on the tank? I’ve seen multiple variations and I’d quite like to get it right. Of course it always possible they came out of the factory with in multiple variations also…

You hit the nail on the head: there is no set place for the sticker, it was a random fitment, at least the new ones that I saw anyway.

I have owned three original yellow desmo tanks and give or take 5 or 6mm none of the "made in Italy" transfers were in exactly the same place..........the tank on my desmo has been repainted so I just placed the transfer where I thought it should be.

Many thanks gentlemen, as I suspected. And I should have said ‘75 Desmo - I have just managed to secure the original registration number and the records show ‘75 as the the date of manufacture and registration, and it was last on the road in 1981!

My 250 is also a 1975......I think (but may be wrong) that most of the disc brake desmo's seem to be 75 rather than 74.
