Tacho mount finish

Postby kaysystems » Wed Feb 01, 2023 7:45 pm

I dug my old Mark 3 tachometer mount out of the depths of despair and started to clean it up. It looks like it was never painted fully. The top plate may have been at one time, but the support looks more like it was plated (Cadmium?).

Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

The ones I have seen as standard were all painted in a silver/grey… no idea of the correct colour. I have seen some in polished stainless though I assume after market items?
If you find a spare one, I’d love to buy it. They are as rare as hen’s teeth it seems.

Thanks

I have seen the stainless ones, possibly from Road and Race in Australia.
It looks years to find mine - eBay along with an NOS Tacho - over 15 years ago. It is definitely a used bracket, so I assume genuine.

I did contact them, but a curt reply was ‘No we don’t have any…. ‘. I will have to keep looking or make one!

Road and Race buy their parts from an Aussie company called 'Overlander' try searching 'Overlander Ducati', they make metal parts for lots of bikes and have a Ducati Singles tacho bracket listed for $44. I don't know if it is what you want, but could be worth an email.

Cheers,

Colin

I think I answered my own original question about the finish.

I had a small chip on the finish and I picked it a little. A very small piece of plating came off - so off to the polisher I went..

Road & Race on the Right, original on the left! Looks a bit like Cadmium plating

The originals were definitely Cadmium plated. I have an original NOS unit
