That is a nice New Year present. Well done.
Happy New Year,

Rolled it off the bench and it started up first kick, which was nice.
Yesterday I put the tank and seat back on and put half a gallon of fuel in.
Today was a little shakedown ride as it was sunny, although not very warm. Only about 5 miles on a figure-of-8 route staying within pushing distance from home. All seemed OK apart from the clutch being heavier than I remember.
Good things:
Motor is definitely quieter than before.
No oil leaks from the bits I've had apart. I'll get round to the cam cap one day....
It idles, which it's never done since the sporty camshaft was fitted.
Good result Ian. All ready to put a lot of miles on the bike next year.
You did me a favour writing about your Ducati restoration in VMCC magazine and reminding me of my teenage Ducati bevel single dream.
Since owning my Elite I have lost interest in any other manufacturer and I am restoring a 350 Road.
The Elite is always the centre of attraction on club rides.
I gave a talk about restoring Ducati bevel singles (pretending I am an expert ) and that was well received.

Grand that Ian, you'll be chuffed.
Put my lower back out clearing snow, so I haven't ventured into the workshop to twirl some spanners. But, with the "bed of nails" mat and some parcetemol, I hope that changes afore the weekend is out.
Good health, Bill

All good then Ian, it's always a tense moment when firing up a rebuilt engine, the first few moments being all eyes and ears.

Re: Crankshaft endfloat - 175TS
Just a quick update - I’ve been using the bike a little bit and I’m generally happy with it.
The only issue is a high-speed misfire which I need to diagnose and resolve.
Otherwise it starts well and is oil tight, apart from the camshaft cap which I have never been able to get sealed fully.
Absolutely filthy now after an outing for some local errands this afternoon.

High-speed misfire seems to be sorted now. I had a longer outing on Sunday, about 80 miles. This gave me a chance to properly understand when it was happening, so I raised the needle by one notch and seems good now.
Might try a slightly bigger main jet to seek further improvement, but I think valve diameters are now limiting top end performance.

Good further progress Ranton. This carb tweaking can take a while and I have been tweaking the gear selector cam as well, both with positive results for very small adjustments.
Keep getting the miles under the wheels, whilst putting a grin on your face.

I adjusted my shift mechanism when I first built the bike and have never had to touch it again. Compared to my Guzzis I find it a pretty slick little gearbox, although a 5th gear would be nice.
