I am after one of the former and have come across one of the latter.

The bike is a Mototrans Elite from '62 which I have attempted to keep as near to original spec as I can.

Does anyone know what the differences between the two might be - jets and needles aside?

And second question - jet/needle info for the standard bike?

I seem to recollect that you have a big valve head on your Elite. I am no expert but would the 24 carb restrict the larger valves. Someone with more knowledge may comment later.

Thanks for the info George. The bike came with a mounted UB22B2 and you are right, a big valve head. I learned from the Spanish Lamaneta site that there were 1,000 big valve Elites made. I suppose anything is possible and that the carb is original fitting too but a factory combination of bigger valves and smaller carb does seem perverse!

According to the Ian Falloon singles book early Elite with bigger valves had SS27A carb

As mine is a Spanish Mototrans which were fitted with Dellortos made under licence in Spain, I am unsure how close they were to or how much in step with Italian production.

I have an unfortunately undated copy of the spare parts catalog for Motortrans bikes. It says UB22BS2 for the spanish 200TS, UB24BS for the Elite.

Hans, thank you for that. I have settled on UB24BS as correct for '62 and will consider a UB24BS2 if the differences are not significant - yet to be established. I have taken George's suggestion and asked Ducati Paddy.

Nothing against Ducati Paddy, as I have not had any dealings with him. But, maybe a word with Eurocarb could pinpoint any relevant differences and potential spares availability. I have always had courteous and helpful replies to my questions concerning Moto Morini Dellorto carbs.
