oil feed pipe washers/seals

The oli pipe with the three banjo fittings has been leaking a little.
It had well used alloy washer/seals so I replaced them with fibre washers, that helped but there is still some slight leak.
I have bought a box of assorted copper washers/seals, not used yet as I wanted to check what the correct washer/seal should be.
The banjos have a nice shiny chrome on each seal side, I don't suppose that helps.
Maybe I could tighten a bit more but I think there are no torque settings.

The standard sealing washers are made from soft aluminium and usually work well, however the oil pipe banjo's get crushed a bit if they have been of and on a lot or get tightened up too much to get a seal, so what you need are sealing washers called dowty washers, get them of ebay....they will fix it .

Agree with George, my 450 has Dowty washers on the cambox drains, the oil filler pipe into the crankcase, the dipstick and the sump drain plug. No leaks!

There is nothing "bad" about the soft aluminium or copper washers. But, the aluminium washers need replacing every time they are disturbed and the copper washers need annealing before re-using in my experience and only last for so long.

Personally I always use alloy washers, however if the banjo is dished in (largely due to early unflanged bolts) you can get leaks. Copper washers are not ideal as they are too hard and generally need to be freshly annealed to work.

I'm not a great fan of dowty washers in this application and If the banjo is dished the dowty won't seal it either. I think my thoughts on dowty washers comes from my engineering background which generally called for dowty washers to be installed in such a way to be centred. Either by a step (internally or externally) or a taper at the shoulder. Using standard dowty washers just looks wrong to me as the lip can disappear into the hole. Okay I accept they may work but from what I've seen they can get chewed up and that's not how they are supposed to work..... However there are some "self centering" dowty seals that have an inner lip that centers on the bolt, that seems like a better idea to me. I'll stick to my alloy washers and flanged bolts, they just look right

OK, but oil pipes with "dished" banjos should be discarded anyway, as they might not seal tightly with aluminum washers, too.
Dowty seals are indeed also made in a "self-centering" version:
