Is there a cable out there that is suitable for a left side shift conversion. I'm in the midst of the swap and looking at the cable it looks like the housing would roughly need to be 32" long. I figured I would ask before I make my own.
Thanks in advance!
Tim

Hi Tim,
Have a look at a cable from a 750 or 860 GT, they are possibly long enough.

Re: Rear brake cable for left shift conversion
Hi,
Could you give me information on the LH gear shift conversion works please.
The Ducati is the only bike I have that has the brake on the left so I have stamped on the gear lever too often thinking it is a brake or locked up the back wheel trying to change gear.
Regards

Some have a rod through the hollow swingarm spindle.

Thanks Jordan,
That bike looks too modern for the engine but must be quite rare.

One of the last of approximately 1500 Ventos produced by Mototrans between 1977 and 1982.
The last few came with a factory left foot change as illustrated in Jordans photos.
Most of the left foot change bikes went to Japan and Germany.

Aye Alex,
Sorry to read that you are not getting along with the 250.
I can only say that when swopping from the SRX/BROS to the Duke or the Morini, I have to re-programme the brain before setting off and make a concious mental note of the change. I too have on occasion locked the rear up looking for a lower gear!
Thankfully, I don't have the Embra traffic to deal with, afore getting out on the open road. The 450 doesn't like stop-start, traffic light interupted short runs. Personally, I wait until the daytime mayhem has abated and go for a canter in the evening, when others are gorging beer/wine and fast-"food"! I find it more relaxing!
If you are determined to make a conversion, I think that you will be on your own. But, corrspondence with Phil Hitchcock in sunny Oz, may illicit some measurements for a conversion (Please share them on here if you obtain anything. Thank you.). I believe that Phil sold up 'Road & Race' to go and "do other things"! Phil modified his race bike to a left-hand gear change and with a cable operated rear brake from the righthand side; the cable being looped under the swingarm pivot plates and away from the underslung exhaust. I have copied the link to the images on the 'ducatimeccanica.com' website below.

As an aside, I suspect that you and others would enjoy a trawl through the 'ducatimeccanica.com' website, so here is a link to that.

Good health, Bill (up the road), over 20°C for the first time in 2021!

Re: Rear brake cable for left shift conversion
Thanks folks,
Just a consideration at the moment as I first need to get my bike running properly (cuts out at 5000rpm)
When it is running fine I could focus more on riding rather than trying to understand what is going on with the poor running.
Thanks
