350 Scrambler Telesco Rear shock absorbers

Postby Rocla » Wed Mar 03, 2021 3:28 pm

Hello everybody... Despite I have removed the rubber seals of my Telesco shock absorbers, they are too reactive, without any movement absorption, as if the springs were the only part working, especially for the return. It destabilizes the bike! Here attached pictures of this Telesco model (Scrambler Ducati-Mototrans of course) without its rubber protection. Is there a solution to make them more gradual?

Ola Rocla,

The usual reason for the rear shock absorbers to fail is that the oil has leaked out, allowing the rear of the bike to pogo (sorry I can't think of another word in English!) in other words, move up and down too fast and wallow. You can replace the seals and fill the units with new oil, but the damper rods must not be rusty or pitted or the new seals will be damaged.

Good luck,

Colin

Bonjour Rocla,

This question appears to be a repeat of your query from Thu Sep 26, 2013 8:19 am. http://motoscrubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1535 At that time it appears that spare parts for refurbishing your Telesco rear shock absorbers were not available! With the passage of time I doubt that you are going to find spare parts 7 years later. I would suggest that instead of trying to ride a pogoing motorcycle a new set of shock absorbers would be the things to purchase.

Hello Themoudie,

Thank you for your reply. My resquest is the same than the previous one but since it, I changed the rubber seals. With no effect. I don't know where and if I have to fill oil into the shock absorber. Maybe it is the solution but I didn't see any place to fill the oil. Maybe once it was dismounted, it is impossible ? Of course I can remove the absobers with brand new ones, unless it is easy to fix them.

Bonjour Rocla,

I too, having no experience of Telesco rear suspension units and do not know if they are rebuildable. However, the following link is to a Spanish spares retailer who advertises and sells on eBay, who may be able to advise you. I have no experience of this retailer! https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/sparepartsforall-75

I hope this helps you sort something out.

Jon will know the answer if he checks in here, but I'm guessing repairs are not easy, given the age and possible corrosion of the dampers.
