This is a '62 Mototrans Elite with valves that measure 37in and 33ex.
I can only find them listed as 32in 30ex for Elite.
The only markings on the cylinder head are 'S' and '1'
Anyone know if the head is standard Elite, modified Elite or something else? Parts orders are pending until I know what is what.

These are the valves that I fitted to my elite head (Mototrans).

Re: Elite head valve sizes - actual and listed
Tell me something (slightly off topic) are there actually 37mm and 36mm inlet valves fitted to Ducatis?

Re: Elite head valve sizes - actual and listed
Bob, thank you for that info and the links.
Recambiosusados has Elite valves listed as 32x87.6x8 and 30x88x8. http://recambiousado.com/venta/index.ph ... er=product
Lacey Ducati does not list the Elite (or the 175TS-200TS) alongside the Monza Sebring valves.
Duccout, not off topic: are the valve combinations of my and Bob's head original fitment?

Geordie, I don't know the answer, but as both you and Bob have valves fitted of 37mm and 33mm, then the likelihood is that they are standard. There is somebody who will know the answer and that is Jon Pegler, so hopefully he will see your post and let you know.

FWIW, Ian Falloon in his Singles book, lists the Elite's valves as being 37mm and 33mm.

Re: Elite head valve sizes - actual and listed
Colin, thank you for that info: evidence is building that it is a standard head. I have written to Jesus Guzmann at Recambiosusados mentioning his listing of Elite valves as 32&30. His reply was only that he does not have any 37/33 sizes. Slightly puzzling.

Bob, thank you for that. I will be ordering exactly those today.

Re: Elite head valve sizes - actual and listed
Hello. Mototrans, during practically the entire production of Ducati elite, I use valves:
-Admission: 32mm.
-Exhaust: 30mm.
Only in the last years of manufacturing with Carter 5V, Elite and DeLuxe, and not always, do I use slightly larger valves.
-Admission: 34mm.
-Exhaust: 31mm.
I have one of those heads, I could measure it, in case memory fails me.
But I never use 37mm-33mm.
Another thing could be a race-ready head or if it's an Italian head.
Greetings.

Re: Elite head valve sizes - actual and listed
emoi, thank you for that. If the head is not an original it could explain why the cam does not match the one I have been supplied as a Mototrans Elite cam. There is evidence that the head has been off during its life although the reason for that is not (yet) apparent. I now have the new 37-33 valves from Lacey and they have the same head sizes as the fitted ones.
If I remember correctly, there are external differences between a Spanish and an Italian head. The head is at the machine shop but when it returns, I will check.
