I have a fender with no hole where there should be one on a Mach 1 for the wire grommet.
Any chance someone could give me some dimensions to properly locate it?
Maybe up from the corner of the fender by X, and then in by Y? Like so:
Please and thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,
I’ll try and get you some measurements tomorrow.
Do you have the rear exit hole to drill as well?

Thanks Jim. Yes, I will need the other hole as well. As you can probably tell, I’m working my way though this as I go
At least the other one is on center (I’m guessing) so just one measurement.
I accept English or metric dimensions
No rush and thanks!

I think that one of the two holes called out on nalimugmug’s photo is the forward hole for securing the fender to the frame near the battery box.
The wiring exits the fender near the taillight just behind the fender loop.

Re: Rear Fender Hole Location
Well that worked out well:
Came through just where you might expect! Thanks Bob! Crystal clear with the tape and dims.
It looks like the wire exit at the back of the fender is not on the center-line of the fender Jim. Is that right? I'm still waiting on my tail light to arrive, but will need that in the not too distant future!
Thanks for the help!!!!

I will try and get you locating dimensions for the rear hole tomorrow. Yes, the rear hole is offset from center. The wires exit the hole to the left side of the fender, from behind the fender loop.

Re: Rear Fender Hole Location
From Jim's photo and description the exit hole looks to be right inside the frame loop.
When I use your dimensions Bob I end up at the cross-hairs:
Thoughts before I put carbide to steel with no returning?
This is a re-pop fender, and Ducati's QC back then was suspect, which could make this more of a art than science.
And thanks for the second time Bob!

Re: Rear Fender Hole Location
Hi again,
Its dark oclock here at the moment.
Ill place the mudguard up against a frame in the morning and post some more pics for you, I will of course recheck my measurements.
Your cross hairs do look slighty off from where they should be, they should be as in Jims pic.
Until the morrow.
Bob
Two more pics before I get some shut eye--
