IMHO, I think it started life as a scrambler (SCR). The frame is looks like SCR and not a mototrans or road frame. Gauge holders, headlight, handlebars and tank are all like my 450SCR. The forks and the rear shocks are not SCR - mine have gaiters not shrouds. Front wheel looks like an 18" not a SCR 19". Front fender is different so is rear. Rocker style shift lever is not 450SCR. There are also a few aftermarket parts like the seat, pipe and tail light.

I don't doubt it was probably a scrambler at one time. the bars are K&N after market. All the scrambler bars I've seen are taller than these by a good bit. the seat is I believe an Airtech Cutlass. I think the front fender is period Ducati single road bike. the rear fender is a piece of junk that someone grafted in there. It bears the scars of many retrofits before it ended up in my 450.

Wouldn't you love to know the story behind it all? One of the things I love about old bikes.

You'll need to contact this person to see if they speak English, and if they will ship to you, but it could be worth doing.

I am changing insurance companies. One thing they want to know is the value of my Duke. What are your opinions as to the value?

thanks
Mike

Priceless. The problem is, you will probably invest more in it than it can be sold for. Is value how much you spent or how much you can sell for?

" Is value how much you spent or how much you can sell for? "

____ I'd say it's the average of the base & ceiling that they go for on eBay,, which would be between 1500 & 5000.
And on top of that average can be added two-thirds of the value of any recently added new parts... So for example, if ya just installed a 600-buck alt/ign.set-up, then add 400 more to the DUKE's value-price. - (Of course that's always haggleable.)
It ought to be kept in-mind though, that very few buyers care to actually pay that fair-value, especially insurance-companies !

DUKE-Cheers,
-Bob
PLEASE NOTE... If this-post is not-yet signed-off with '-Bob', then I'm still in the process of completing it,, and if not also included with 'DCT' near bottom as well, then I may edit this post's wording at a later time. - Dct.Bob
