Handed hubs and rims, Mototrans Elite

Postby Geordie » Mon Nov 09, 2020 4:37 pm

I have come accross RH and LH drilled hubs as well as RH and LH configured rims. For what its worth, I'll post the pics here - there may be those not yet introduced to the mysteries of spoke patterns, just as I wasn't. First though, a drawing of original spokes as those specified in the Mototrans parts book:-

Then the different hand of the rims:-

and the different hand of the hubs:-

If you mix them then the only way to lace the hub with the spoke lengths above is with the inner spokes of both flanges in the same direction and the outers of both flanges in the opposite direction. To lace more normally - inners in opposite directions - requires matching the hub to the rim. If mixed then the more normal lacing directions requires 'over three' as opposed to the 'over two' pattern.
