Re: Drive side crank lubrication

Another test was done today, this time after a run to heat up the engine oil.
On starting cold, oil quickly made its way up the clear tube, as last time.
I plugged the top tube end for the run, which was about 20 minutes.
Then with engine stopped I unplugged the tube at the top and pulled it off the banjo at the engine, to clear it of oil.
I helped by blowing, as it was still cold although engine hot.
The oil expelled from the tube can be seen on the ground, and a dribble that came from the briefly disconnected tube (not a leak).
With the tube reconnected to the banjo, engine was restarted - not much happened, just a little oil visible near bottom of the tube.
Revving up to 6000 rpm had little effect, still no convincing oil flow.
Off camera, I disconnected the tube from the banjo and kicked over the engine, with valve lifted and ignition off.
It appeared that more oil was spurting out from the banjo at kickstart speed than when the engine was running.
I don't know what to conclude from this result.
Later I will repeat the cold test to see that it behaves as the last time it was tested cold.

It would seem to indicate, the centrifugal force at high RPM is overcoming the oil pressure, if there ever is any, in the drive side flywheel . But there still maybe oil exiting at the primary gear.
It would involve a lot of work, to plug the shaft oil way into the gear to prove the point.

When I'm not too busy, I should do that test with plugged primary gear feed.

I had the wrong video attached, now it should show the new one.
