Valve Clearances for White Cam

Postby Duccout » Fri Jul 03, 2020 8:14 pm

Can anyone confirm what the valve clearances should be for a white cam? I have two sources that list it as 2-4 thou, but this seems very small, and in view of the variations in Ducati technical information I'm a little wary.

2 & 4 thou were the normal clearances for INL & EXH of pushrod Triumph 650s.

Afaik, the white camshaft was used in the 250SCR n/c and w/c models, and apparently in the 450SCR. The 1964 user manual for the 250SCR and Monza quotes:

Seems spot on for a wide-case white cam, Colin, i.e. as fitted to 250 SCR & 450 Mark III, SCR according to Jim Pianetta. (Haven't checked for n/c).

Spec in owner's h/book is 0.05 - 0.10mm. And 0.05 = 2 thou, and 0.10 = 4 thou ...
