Hi All
As suggested I tried a bump start and it fired up and ran so now I know it’s the ignition so will start looking for substitutes

Thanks everyone

Weggy, before you go too far in shelling out the folding stuff ...

Just describe for us your kick starting technique. You do have a decompressor/valve lifter fitted, yes?

Now you have had it running again, did you try to start it on the kickstart when it was hot? did it start easy on the bump start?
Cheers,
George

Good news after the bump start it kick started with no problem and I gave it a good run and all Ok.
I kick started it this morning from cold and it fired up and ran on the second kick carb flooded no choke and a couple of kicks with the valve lifter.
It looks as if the problem is solved for now so thanks to you all for your advice.

That's great! but I suspect a little warning of something to come, it would be a good idea to start looking now (at your leisure) for a replacement ignition system.
Cheers,
George

Hi George
I am sure you are right so I am looking around on various websites for a replacement system or convert to points & coil
Thanks again

Maybe both points and electronic?
It's an economical way to do it, if you already have the points bits, which I think are pretty good mechanical quality.
It could give the electronic advantage of easier starting.
