Appendage on my frame?

Appendage on my frame?

Hi all, sorry couldn’t think of what else to call my enquiry. I notice there is a angular metal tube section in my frame by the bottom of engine. Anyone know what this is for, or has my frame been hacked?

Bike is a 1966 Ducati scrambler 250

Pretty sure thats the standard ducati side stand bracket, with the stand leg missing.
