Late Scrambler brake cable position

Hello,
My '74 -'75 450 Scrambler is a bit of a dunga but a good bike.
I sorted it enough over the years to be reliable and a very pleasant ride.
I have replaced the single sided drum with the correct double sided brake and new twin cables etc.
How are the cables supposed to rout ?
All works well but the cables are over the gauges.
Is it just that the bars aren't high or long enough?
It has been like this for a long time, so it's no big deal if there is no answer.

I can't tell from your picture, but the bars look not to be original. The original Scrambler bars were very wide and may account for the excess cable that you have.

A new find: https://www.ducatibrochures.com/the-collection-per-type-or-year/bevel-singles-from-250/
An enormous collection of scanned Ducati brochures, with a lot of pictures/fotos of the SCR model among them.
These here might help:

Thank you gentlemen, I thought the longer bars would help.
What about the blue and gold m3 ?
They had shorter bars I thought ?

Yes, definitely. I wonder if they would fit your bars? Have you asked Phil at Road and Race? Alternatively, Lacey Ducati sells universal front brake cables that can be cut to size.

Sorry, Graeme. Meant to get back to you on this, then forgot ... Mea culpa.

Anyways, hope the attached helps. 450 SCR, btw.

Looks nice and neat
Are the bars standard Scrambler?
On my picture you will see how close the dual cable attaches to the brake lever is to the gauges.
These aren’t standard bars obviously and the cables can’t bend that tight to run the cables same as yours.
I can see how the cables run with your bars, thank you for showing me a picture.
But what about Mk3 blue and gold bikes? They had the same set up but with shorter bars than Scramblers?

Probably be best if I put it this way ;) I have no reason to think they are not ...

Hopefully an owner will be along soon. In the meanwhile, there's this photo in Massimo Clarke's book which, from what I can make out, has the brake cable passing behind the headlamp to emerge from behind the left stanchion.
