Here are some published* figures to support this:
125S: 10HP @ 8,000 rpm
160T: 8HP @ 7,500 rpm
175TS: 12HP @ 7,200 rpm.
So it would seem that power-wise, you've done rather better with the 125 that you've actually got than with the 160 that you
thought you'd bought

Advice please.
Have removed head after removing the two upper screws to top bevel drive tube. should the tube and top bevel gear and shaft just lift out of bottom flange with the two screws fixed to crankcase. It is extremely tight and do not want to force unless I know if I am not missing something. Is the Oldham coupling just a sliding fit.
Perhaps I should change post subject to: 175TS / 125S project

Yes, it has a loose push-in fit into the bottom flange; the tube is sealed by an o-ring, which might heavily stick to it

Again yes. Don't you have workshop manual and parts catalog at hand? If needed I can send download links. Pls specify the model, 125, 160 and/or 175.
cheers Hans

Thanks Hans first Ducati steep learning curve.
Tube moves up and down small amount shaft solid I can only assume Oldham coupling is seized up.
Download links would be appreciated Mototrans early 1960s 125S engine in 1964 175TS

Any progress George? If the Oldham coupling is seized it is going to be a problem to separate the two parts. Have you tried tapping the top of the shaft down with a plastic mallet?

No luck yet. Don't want to get to heavy handed. top and bottom shafts locked solid. Put plusgas down through oil return hole hoping some will get on Oldham coupling. Perhaps leave for tonight start afresh tomorrow. Hopefully Hans will get time to add Manual / parts list downloads

You may have to take out the two screws that hold down the lower flange, take off the timing cover and see if you can tap the lower bevel housing upwards until you can prise it out from the top using screwdrivers against blocks of wood to protect the aluminium. I think that this will allow you to remove the bevel shaft in one piece, unless I have missed something....

Brain fade.....Of course the shaft won't come out with the bottom bevel attached. Back to the drawing board.
