Hi Jeff,

here are two downloads, which may help:

I suppose you already have the french workshop manual from Revue Mototechnique. If not, I can also provide a link for downloading.

cheers Hans

Buy a load of shims, a metric micrometer, and spare circlips and be prepared to do and reedo the job as many times as it takes ,Study the section drawings and be prepared to think you have got it all worked out only to find you are wrong.I found it very usefull to remove the rockers to unload the valve gear and assess any free play.

Bonjour Jeffduc,

As Bob says and lots of patience. La patience! ;)

Mes salutations, Bill

Random thoughts:

- Always start from too loose and then slowly move the gears until the play just disappears and the witness marks line up perfectly. I have redone several engines built by others and they just thought they were lucky when there was no play on assembly not realizing the gears were under tension.

- Crank has to be true and carefully shimmed first. The cranks are not strong and too large a crank shim will just "squeeze' the crank out of alignment.

- It is not unusual to have a very slight amount of play appear as the crank is rotated. The crank may be slightly out of round, the gears worn, etc. As long as there is no preload, it's fine.
