Who do you recommend for cylinder and crank work?

Looking for someone here in the States for a re-bore of the cylinder, tapping the head for a second spark plug and opening up the cam tunnel for a bigger cam, and someone to replace the big end bearing on my crank.

I've had mixed success with some fellas down in Texas and am looking for someone who can do the work right the first time and not take months to do it.

I recall there was a shop in Minnesota too.

I think that we have members of the list that have or work at bevel-knowledgeable shops.

However, you should solicit others here for their reviews of these service providers.

Also, press these providers for expected completion dates. These folks are generally quite busy.

Edco in Petaluma, CA would probably do the head work and bore the cylinder. Good work and they deliver when promised.

All you need is the big end bearing replaced? No thrust washers? Rod and pin are ok?

Rod seems OK but I’m contemplating going to an Arrow rod because . . . well . . . because.

Syd’s Cycles does all the things you say you’re looking for. Malcolme has rod kits made to his specifications by Falicon. You’d have to ask him about using an Arrow rod. He’s a nice guy and worth talking to either way. I paid about $600 for a rod kit and $300 ish for labor I think when he did my 450 crank several years ago.

+1 Syd's. They do amazing work. They balanced my 250 and it's as smooth as butter at speed. Shakes like heck at idle but that's single cylinder balancing for you.

Oh, and they have jigs to drill for the second plug. Turns out like factory.
