Clip-on handlebars

Postby Flyboy767 » Fri Jul 26, 2019 7:18 pm

What do you guys I do with the headlight bucket attachments when you put clip-on bars on the bike? Looks like either you have to cut the oem’s( really don’t want to do that) or use some aftermarket headlight attachments.

Cheers!!

There were shorter cast aluminium headlight brackets for clip on handlebars on the 31.5mm type forks.
They look best with top triple clamp without the built in handlebar clamp.
Shortening long ones won't result in the correct hole size at the top.
These days it might be good to keep any good old parts unmodified if possible.
Consider "Ace" style "drop bars" ?

Tommaselli list 31.5mm headlight brackets that would mount a headlight with clipons.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Have to take a look at Tommaselli, sounds like a good option.

What is your plan to control corrosion of the unplated, exposed tubes?
Will you be happy with the "empty" handlebar clamp?
Don't forget you need some headlight brackets too, unless you "destroy" the originals.

I’ve used Autosol to combat corrosion before and looks like Tommaselli’s headlight brackets would work together with their clip-ons. Not going to destroy the originals. That would be an criminal act :D

Here's the setup I used on my bike. Obviously not original but it's a bike that was built purely for fun. I clear-coated the tubes to protect against corrosion.
