Ducati Scrambler 250 - Year Identification

Postby Dcaron » Sun Feb 10, 2019 10:03 pm

I'm restoring a Ducati 250 Scrambler (USA sold) wide case with original tach drive. The front strut is stamped 1 - 66 and the engine is stamped DM250 and 104509.
The glued-on aluminum tag is hard to read, however this is the info:
TIPO DEL VEICOLO 250 SCR
ANNO DI COSTRUZ 196 (no other number)
No MOTORE 104509
No TELAIO 104509
CILINDR.cm3 250

Need help to determine year? Thanks.

Engine no. looks like a 1968 model.

From Robert Miller's Ducati Singles registry, found here:

As per John.

Relatively rare. Should look like this (photo taken from Ian Falloon's "Book of the Ducati ... Singles"

Thank you both for this information. My bike does look like the one illustrated except it has the earlier model front struts.
