Does anyone know when the 125 desmo was fitted with a duplex frame? 1957 , 58 or59? I'm trying to fathom out a 125 that has a duplex frame but a DOHC V/spring motor.

According to Falloon, the duplex cradle frame for the 125 desmo was developed mid-1957 for Spaggiari. The double cradle frames continued for 1958.

Not sure if that helps you or not but there you go.

Hi Eldert, I am particularly interested in the works racer frames as used on the GP and desmo 125's , Trying to trace the history of a late 50's bike that could have been a desmo and is now a DOHC springer. The above frame does show some similarities with the lineage coming through a decade later.

Absolutely beautiful, but I could not live with those plastic oil pipes and jubilee clips.

The one I have seen has the same motor but in a full duplex frame which makes me wonder if it was once a works Desmo. Would really enjoy the ownership but security worries are holding me back. Plus so noisy that opportunities for exercising the beast would be very restricted.

Have a look on philaphoto.com. Phil has files on several 125 GP models. One file suggests that the full cradle frame was introduced on the factory desmo and was subsequently carried over to customer bialbero specification. I also seem to recall statements that the factory would replace the heads on desmos (which were typically not released) with a bialbero and sell to customers. A more definitive answer is possible but would take hours of researching the documentation.
