Can I remove the timing gear

Can I remove the timing gear

i'm building up a 350 wide case race bike. The ignition timing is via the crank courtesy of the Electrex STK-168D ignition system. Since I'm no longer using the cam for timing, do I need the timing gear at all? Can I remove or if I do will the oil pump gear get wobbly?
