the DU 251 ECM is for the 24 Horas type crankshaft . is uses a straight 27 mm BE pin 58.40 mm long . the cage is 27 X 35 x 18 mm. the rod is 125 mm c.t.c.

i could not find info on their website about the DU 253 rodset

i would ask for measuremends before ordering a rodset .

BTW the Samarin Yamaha rods i bought on EBay.de never came thru . the only thing i got from the seller was pos feedback. i asked for the total amount due several times but never got a response .

Hi Eldert,

The catalogue is not easy to search through, same with the web search function.
In an earlier email to me they sent me the following dimensions.

Dear Alex,

Thank you for their interest in our products.
We produce a rod on the Ducati 250 and 350. Here are the dimensions:

250cc 350cc
A-125mm A-135mm
B-18mm B-18mm
C-35mm C-38mm
D-18mm D-18mm
F-27mm F-30mm
L-58,4mm L-73mm

If you have any question, please feel free to contact us.

Regards.
José Marin.
Manufactured Samarin Co.Ltd.

Their 350 rod looks the closest to what I may have in my bike (I think)
Seems they would be able to run a small batch if we could give them a good rod or Cad scanned design.
Will try to find the 350 rod in the catalogue later.

Regards

Hi Eldert,

Do you mean 18.3 rather than 8.3?
My bike uses the 18mm wide conrod (measured with my best cardboard engineering at big end) I think I could use the kit you bought.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex

no , the 8.3 mm is the with of the shaft . Nigel wanted to know how wide the shaft was . is the shaft is wider then 10 mm orso you have to make the crankshaft flywheel narrower in order for the rod to stay clear of the flywheels .

Hi All,

Just a follow up on the Samarin Rod kits, it's been awhile, but I've been busy with a few other things. I have been communicating with Samarin and have now ordered two batches of 10 kits for stock.

To start with the DU253 kit, 30mm pin widecase (as posted by Eldert) and also the DU251 kit to suit 175/200 and spanish 250 Narrowcases (27mm pin). They are providing some from stock which should be arriving shortly with the rest to follow later when manufactured.

Samarin also have records of a 125/160 kit. They haven't a kit for the Italian 250, but I'm sure that would be possible, with my preference being a 27/30 pin as per my Arrow kits. If all works out well with the kits ordered, I'll add these two other kits to my stock as well at some later date.

My retail price on the DU253 30mm widecase kit will be £270 and the DU251 175/200/250(mototrans N/C) kit will be £225, both plus VAT.

Regards Nigel

Well done Nigel and thank you

I will get my bikes crank removed so I can let you know the crankpin dimensions, hoping my 1974 bike has a 30mm crankpin.

Alex

That late it might have a 32mm pin.
Can a 30mm conrod kit fit if it is?

Alex
Whatever the pin size, I should be able to help as I think I still have one NOS 27mm and 32mm pin kits as well. Late 32mm pattern kits are available from the Vintage Ducati store as a straight fits as well.

Thanks,
Next is the stripdown, I already have the correct flywheel puller.
May be able to get it on the road this summer :)
