I need to order parts for my '69 350 scrambler and they ask for "generation" So would the 69 be first or second gen?

and who are some good suppliers in the US.

Thanks
Rich

i think your 69 would be first generation . in about 73 the Scrambler came with the double sided 180 mm Grimeca frontbrake . those bikes are called 2nd generation .

There are some more diffences for the 2nd series:

- Borrani alloy rims, no more chromed steel type
- new front fork (afaik Ceriani)
- shallow headlamp shell (chromed) instead of longish (black varnish)
- diffent side panels and air filter
- late models have a stronger conrod and crank pin bearing, some (450only?) have plastic idler gear between crankshaft and points shaft, DUCATI or Motoplat brand electronic CD ignition
- different muffler

i just kept it simple . forks are Marzocchi for sure . only the yellow desmo with disc brakes had a Ceriani fork
the type 2 front fender is a differand type to with chrome fender stays . top tripple clamp lost the ridge on the inside so you could slide the forktubes into the top clamp . type 1 you had to remove the top forknut to get the tube out of the top clanp .
seat has a diff pattern to

the plastic idler oilpump gear is a mototrans thing .

very late in about 74 /75 when production off the singles stopped Mototrans engines where put in Italian bikes .
the blue and gold mark3 for sure and maybe some scramblers to . that is how some bikes landed up with the plastic oilpump gear

Hi,

just for reference: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fducatiscrambler.com%2Fscrambler_1_e_2_serie.htm
and an old thread (tnx Eldert): http://www.motoscrubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=525

And yes Eldert, my mistake - the 2nd series forks are of course made by Marzocchi. The 1st version is different though (steel yokes, polished sliders, etc.). Are they also from Marzocchi, or a genuine DUCATI product?
