450 piston

Postby Used Piston » Fri Jan 12, 2018 2:51 am

After tearing into my 450 project, I find that the bright and shiny piston I spoted through the spark plug hole is not new and my sleeve has some scars that are not going to hone out. To those of you that know the 450s, do the 860 pistons interchange? How are the Omega pistons?
My piston is marked 86-65871/1/2 would it be second over?
Thanks, John

Hi John

the later Ducati 450 could be fitted with 860 pistons . the diff is in the wrist pin diameter .

from the start the 450 used a piston with a 22 mm wristpin . later on with the introduction of the beefyer B type conrod they went to 20mm wristpin just like the 860 .
