160 source coil resistance?

Postby Classictrial » Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:41 pm

Wonder if anyone knows what resistance a 160 ignition source coil should be please? I would guess its going to be the same as any bike with flywheel generator rather than DC battery ignition.

The ignition coils for n/c singles have different characteristics, depending on the ignition type. A red label indicates the version for the battery/points i. e. Kettering ignition, a green label was used on the AC magneto version. Primary resistance values are dissimilar, but I don't know the actual values, unfortunately. Both coils are available from guzzino.com.

cheers Hans

Thanks Hans. Will probably have coil rewound just to be sure its going to be reliable. I think bike will run better on inductive ignition than CDI. Have a good Xmas and new year and thanks again for advice.
