Hello,

i have a question for a Diana.
What did you do between the rearside from the tank and the frame - there must be a upholstering.
How big should be the distance between tank and frame - i want no made scratches and i need place for
wiring and some electrical equipment.

In the parts list is nothing to find...
Has anybody a picture for me?

Hi Karsten,

I don't have a spares cat. for the 4speed models, but in the 5speed version a "tank gasket" 0440.83.030 is depicted and it's no. listed, at least for Monza and Mach1. I remember having seen this item, it was a rubber or foam pad, half way wrapped (glued?) around the top tube of the frame. The catalog even gives the dimensions: 70x130x20.

cheers Hans

In my 175TS book the part number is 175V.SB53 and size is 70x100x20. Is it foam or solid rubber? Mine is missing from the kit of parts I'm trying to make into a bike.

Part no. 175V.SB53 is the same part as 0440.83.030, just that one is the old numbering system.
The rubber pads used to be made of a foam rubber, not solid.

A club racer trick is to make one from inner tubes.
Method is to cut several pieces of required length, and stuff one of them with all the others.
The bundle can be roughly moulded to shape and taped to the frame tube.
It's a temporary fix that often never gets upgraded as it is out of sight.

My project bike does not have the foam pad but I can see a ghost of where it was on the underneath of the tank. The front edge is about 200mm from the back of the tank. I don't think it's too critical as long as the tank is kept away from the frame tube when fixed down.
