Narrow Case Oil Union questions

Postby narrow_monza » Wed Jun 21, 2017 1:36 am

Greetings,

Does anyone know the proper tightening torque for the M12 banjo bolts on a narrow case 250 oil union?
Also, are aluminum crush washers more suitable than copper ones?

Cheers!

OK. My experiences have all been with widecases, but may apply to you.
The banjos in question are on the oil drain tube from head to bevel tube?
I've only seen aluminium washers used there, and they all worked well to keep oil in.
A good torquing guide, used by many home mechanics, is to tighten until the thread strips, then back off a bit.
Seriously, it's not likely to strip or deform the banjo unless you go ape with a spanner. Just snug it up.
