My clutch cable snapped yesterday, and fortunately I was one block from my house on the way home.
I have a new cable installed, but I kind of remember on a previous clutch cable change I had to remove the inspection cover on the left-hand side of the engine (if not the whole left side engine cover) so as to loosen and back out the clutch adjustment screw that goes through the center of the clutch basket.
Before I begin a bit more work than I want to do, I would like to know if I need to do this or not.
Thanks.
Jim

I don't remember ever having to do that, but it would depend on how much adjustment is available at either end of the cable.

End of story: No adjustment necessary.
I think that perhaps in the past I used a soldered-on ball at the end of the cable, and my cable ended up just a bit too long. I likely would have used the position of the rod to eliminate the play.
I used a set screw fitting this time.
