Aaron, which parts book its that? I don't think I have it. The page says 1964, so it could be a 4-speed Mark 3 or early 5-speed? Can you scan the first couple of pages and email them to tony@coolitalianbikes.com?

I poked around a little more and the answer is both A and D are correct for narrow case 5-speed Mark3's. It depends on what model year/serial number if you believe the 5-speed master parts book. Interesting that according to this book, the early 1965 up to engine serial number 00350 use the SSI 29A and the Mach1 and Mark 3 00351 and beyond share the SSI 29D.

As soon as I can get around to it, I am going to scan this book and post it on the forum. It's 580 pages and from all the boooks I have, this seems to be the most detailed from the other 5-speed parts books I have found.

Tony,
I don't have a scanner but here is a couple pictures. Our books look the same to me. I was lucky to find it on ebay recently cheap, being sold by a pawn shop. The page I referred to is #247 for some reason it's 35 pages after the other Mk3 pages. Also pretty much the middle of the book so maybe you are missing a few pages? I think the book was printed in 66 to cover the changes made to the 66 bikes. I'm not sure but it might be the last narrowcase book printed.

Hey Aaron, you are right. I did not look as closely as you did. I do see the 1964 250 Mark 3 pages after the SCR both SSI 27A. The head is also different for the 1964, maybe in 1965 was when they went to larger valves? Interesting.

Mark3kb, when is the engine serial number ? Just curious. Tony
