Does anyone know the identity of the front forks on my 1967 Mk3 N/C?
The bikes has not been ridden since 1993 so I need to change the oil in them for a start but without identification I can't even start to try and work out how much oil there should be. My guru here i France tells me that there could be a number of different forks fitted.
In one of the photos you can see "S" stamped on the front face, just above the axle, on each fork leg.

Superficially at least, Bob, they look like the Real Thing. This first shot is from a Phil Aynsley photo and the second is the illustration in the workshop manual.

Thanks Craig. I am still intrigued by the letter S stamped on the front of the forks.
I will treat them as standard then and get myself 100cc of fork oil, for each leg, as advised in your email.

You need to be aware that most people would regard a 67 or later mark3 to be a widecase which would have different make forks plus lots of parts not any use to you. You need to think of it as an earlier NARROW CASE machine that lingered or languished in a showroom for a year or two.Mine is registered as a 69 but I would bet it was made in 67 or earlier. Dating code is on the forks.Try to get the hang of kickstarting the bike OFF the stand or it will fold up in time. FRame number can sometimes be found on the frame near carb intake,very faint under paint. I would bet our bikes came over on the same batch bought by Bill Hannah. Most got turned into Racers and wrecked. The bike is basically a Mach 1 with a more functional kickstart and rests .

Yes Bob, mine was UK registered in 1969 too, but it is a narrowcase and I am assuming from pictures on the web and the Mick Walker books that is is a 67. There is no frame number anywhere and no date stamp in the fork leg, but the engine number is DM250M3 100090 so from the research that I have done I am assuming that it is about '67.

Change the oil every 1000 miles , Don't plonk along ,keep over 3000 revs (get a RC) and it will last .They take a lot of warming up so easy for 10 miles !.
