Thanksgiving ride

Postby ecurbruce » Mon Nov 28, 2016 5:41 pm

For our amercan thanksgiving holiday, we celebrated "dad"'s 80th birthday by getting together for a ride. We all met in his extended back yard-the smoky mountains of western north carolina, and had a ride through the pisgah national forest, and up to the blue Ridge parkway. Then back, for about a three hour ride.
Dad, my son mike, and me. My grandson Gavin makes four generations of bikers in the family.

Dad is on his '74 750GT, Mike on a honda sport, and I'm on my '65 250 monza.
It was a little chilly, but we managed...it was a great ride.

Love both Dukes! Really nice 750GT. How long have they been in the family?

Hi Dave,
Dad's had the 750GT since the early '80's I think. Maybe late '80's for my monza, started restoring it about 5 years ago.
What an event to get to do this with my father AND my son at this stage of our lives!

Nice one Bruce.

Trust you're working on your boy to get himself a motorcycle of character ... :).

Hi Craig,
Yep, something already in the works, maybe finished in time for the next group ride.

That's a nice area for a ride I'm jealous you had riding weather on thanksgiving, it was pretty cold here.
I've been in those parts but not on a motorcycle it's really nice.
Really like the paint job on the Monza

Hi Aaron,
On top of the mountain was pretty chilly at 40 degrees, plus 50 mph windchill...
Where are you, geographically?

Bruce,
40 is pretty cold for riding I thought you had better weather then that.
I'm in Cincinnati. Today was really nice, low 60's, but with work and cleaning up my yard afterwards had no time for riding.
Engine building season starts soon

+1 to that. All together, a very nice little bike!

Glad to hear something is in the works for your son!
