Do you already know what this is? And is this all you have, no gearbox parts, crankshaft, etc.?

Re: dm250 m1s
The M1S was basically an early production Mach 1 with special wheels and a crankshaft modified to accept an F3 connecting rod. Other tuning specifications may be different but I’ve not seen these documented. Perhaps you could provide some more details?
I only see "250M1S" on the cases. Where does "DM250M1S" in your posting title come from?

Re: dm250 m1s
For what its worth I have M1S 0007 which I bought in 1971.
It has the same lightened clutch components. I've removed the special crank since Syd Tunstall told me the original (with the F3 rod etc) only had about 1000 miles left before it might cause problems. Replacement parts for these cranks seem to be in the unobtanium category. I'm using a standard production crank now.
The bike has its original 19" Borrani rims and Oldani brakes.
There a few pictures of it in Ian Fallon's recent Ducati singles book and I've posted a few pictures of it on this forum.
Don't know if I can help much but maybe.
Regards,
Phil

Re: dm250 m1s
Here some info on the bike is given:
http://www.rideok.com/classic-italian-1967-ducati-250cc-mach-1s/
http://www.ducati.ms/forums/14-vintage/66536-250-mach1s-questions.html
http://micapeak.com/vintage/galleryr.html
It can be clearly seen that this bike had it's own special dual closed loop frame, never used on a production model.
At least your head seems to be a standard production type. The M1S featured M8 studs for the exhaust header, not a big thread inside the exhaust bore.

Hans
the links you posted are a way diff engine . the front motormounts are just as wide as the rear mounts .
these engines are SC engines .
the link to the Ducati MS forum is Fred's M1S . this was not a SC engine . his engine was the same as Booby's engine
his engine had nr 23

Re: dm250 m1s
OK Eldert,
we live and learn.
As I'm not an expert for ancient Ducati racebikes, I did not now that ther are differences in the engines/bikes marked SC or SCD, and the production racers. The latter for me also came from the scuderia corse workshop.
I've seen a Mach1/S many many years ago at the Ducati Club races in Zolder/B, and recalled the studs for the exhaust header. Maybe I can find some old photos from this event in a shoebox stored in my attic ..
So, did boobby's engine originally live in a M1S loop frame, or in a production n/c type like the Mach1 ?
