Will a Wide Case stator fit in a Narrow Case?

No, it doesn't fit. The w/c stator has 4 mounting holes, whereas the different n/c stators have only three. Afaik also the outer (centering) diameter is different.

Alno,
While the wide case stator will not physically fit in a nc case, the narrow case stator with 6 poles and four coils can be modified to resemble and work like the wide case stator.
Look here, viewtopic.php?f=3&t=593&p=3752#p3752

I run my '65 250 nc this way, works well. If you have the pieces at hand, and are crafty, it's doable.
A lot was written on this forum about this subject in 2012. Member Bill Corey could have written a book from his contribution.

Here is a TSB on the subject

There is something different about the early widecase bikes I don't remember right now. They had 3 mounting holes like the NC bikes I think but I think they also had the bosses there for a 4 hole pattern. Not sure what else was different
