Carburetor Options / 1970 350 Mark 3

I'm about to start a restoration (my first ever) of a 1970 350 Mark3 which is missing its carburetor. I understand the Dellorto VHB 29 AD was fitted at the factory, but is it my only choice? I "think" I want to stay with Dellorto, but are there other models that might work better or are easier to source?

Hello Chuck,
I have a Mach1 replica with a 350 head (big valves) and big cam & compression with a quite muffler. The jetting I found for the 30mm PHBH is
Main 137
Pilot 45
Air correction jet 100
Needle X22 Leanest position
Atomizer 262P
Slide 3.0
Trumpet 60mm
I have no personal experience with this modification.
Dellorto PHBHs were used on small block Guzzis, 28mm dia. on V50III and Monza, 30mm dia. on V65 and Lario.

28mm Mikuni round slides work very well, I run one on my N/C 350.

I contacted Dellorto UK regarding the PHBH series of carburetors and they recommended this:

From experience, is this something to worry about, i.e., how much of a a pain in the butt would this be?

It's not nice to have the adjustments on the wrong side.
Can't they supply a 30AD?

It appears only an "AS" is offered in the PHBH line, no AD. "BD" is also offered

Classic Ducati has a NOS VHB29AD listed available for 175.00 GBP
Not really a bad deal considering you shouldn't have to buy any rebuild parts

I was in the same predicament. New to Ducati singles, piecing together old and new stuff. I am not a purist, and don't mind trying new stuff. I installed a 26mm PWK Keihin on my 250, and I liked it so much, I installed one on my 350 Sebring. Slight mods to the bolt pattern, but a very clean fit. $115 US dollars. Free shipping. There are a few other threads on this set up. Good luck.
