Good evening-

In another thread, the topic of frame and engine numbers came up, regarding my Mach 1. I now have the frame and engine numbers of my scrambler, and thought I ought to start a new thread/topic for this.

The frame is DM 250 * 95460 *

The engine number is DM250 94186

And, the topic of the seat on the Mach 1 was also mentioned. I KNOW the seat of this scrambler was re-covered, by Rocco, who had a shop on Shrewsbury Street, in Worcester, Massachusetts. ( That was in the early 1980s.) Rocco re-did the seat, again using all the original hardware, and duplicating the seams and stitching. The internal foam has now deteriorated, and probably should be replaced- but meanwhile, I can still sit on it, as is.

As to the Mach 1, it stayed in the barn this weekend- but I will remove the seat, and take some pics of that, perhaps next weekend.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the pics Bob.
Curious that your scrambler 1) has a frame number and 2) has the triangle toolboxes. I’ve only seen one other frame like this (frame number and triangle toolbox mounts) which I believe may be direct import and not a Berliner model. Seems there were other versions of the scrambler. There are some other details of your SCR that are not typical of a Berliner bike: the exhaust system and the taillight, the rear fender looks a bit longer than typical SCR’s, the blue paint was only seen on very early SCR’s but the headlight on yours is typical of a ’66 scrambler. If the bike left the factory like that, it is unlike any Berliner cataloged model. Of course, all these differences could have been added later in its history. Matt

Good afternoon Forum-

It is spring in New Hampshire- I am trying to get the Ducatis running again.

I did have some success with the Mach I. Last fall, I ordered points and condenser, as the old condenser pigtail wire disintegrated on being touched. The ignition parts went in last fall, and... it still didn't start well. Poking at the carburetter a bit, I decided to replace gaskets. With those installed, it still wouldn't start... regularly. But then cold weather set in, and I gave up. Over the winter, I located some screening for the tank petcock filters... bought another good used petcock (ebay), and assembled a good set for the Mach I. Today, I installed the petcocks, replaced the fuel line to the carburetter float chamber, replaced the spark plug, and... it started right up!

While the tank was off today, I took some pictures of the underside of the seat, as someone asked to see pictures of that.

Here are those under-seat pictures.

and... a phone/video of the Mach I running!

These images are on picasaweb, which is becoming problematic (Google is making picasaweb "go away"). Can someone let me know if these links work?

I also worked a bit on the scrambler- but will start another thread on that.

Sincerely,

Hi Bob, yes the links & video work.

Thanks for posting and good luck moving further along with the bikes. What's next on the list?

Good afternoon all-
I will likely get the bike registered for the road, and ... start using it? And start cleaning it up. I can clean off grease and grime, and try to "polish" off rust from the chrome bits. Also, there is the scrambler to get working again.

Sincerely,

Bob W
