Anyone seen this re-enforcement to an early W/C frame ( DM350 05028) ? Is it a dealer "repair" ? The frame looks to have been cracked and welded at the downtube/side plate before
the mod . The welds don't look "factory" but the re-enforcement seems machine stamped. Rear frame loop was also broken off and welded back on with similar weld. This machine had a
VERY abusive early life (I knew the original owner).

I don't think that's a factory piece. They put in an extra curved tube instead - an elegant solution.
It may be that the piece was well made by a skilled worker, so looks factory made. But welded by an amateur?
