intro and question on bevel shaft differences

hey there! I have been creeping in on the motoscrubs forum for a while now and have never actually posted anything, so i think now is the time. first off, i live in Atlanta, and currently have a 450d mark3, a 350 sebring, an early 350 widecase scrambler, and a bunch of other usually broken italian bikes.
For my question: Well, i have searched far ends of the internet (and this forum hopefully not already missing someones post on it) looking to see what the differences are between the 250/350/450 bevel gear sets are. On my 450, the previous owner somehow installed the tach drive link with out the clip that keeps it on and the link fell down and destroyed a bunch of teeth on the upper bevel gears. The real question is: do i have to hunt down a set from another 450 specifically or will one form a 350 or 250 work as well after re-shimming? any help would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone has a gearset they are looking to get rid of i am game.

i will post pics of the bikes soon

450 bevel shafts are exclusive to that model.
You will have to find a replacement from a 450.

It is likely the bevel shaft was twisted and the lower bevel gear's woodruff key in the crank has been sheared. I suggest you remove the gear to check it.
Don't ask how I know this.

" i

an early 350 widecase scrambler, "

____ An actual 'early w-c.Scrambler' employs the old n-c ET.type ignition-system and has no regulator-unit in it's electrical-system !
Are you sure your w-c.350 is like that ?

" i have searched far ends of the internet (and this forum hopefully not already missing someones post on it) looking to see what the differences are between the 250/350/450 bevel gear sets are. "

____ There are four different 250~450 upper bevel-gear sets and they're all pretty-much the same except for the shaft-length of the tower-shaft, of-which the 450-shaft is the longest ! _ So (ideally) you'll need to find the same model of tower-shaft, (which will fit from any 450-model !).

" do i have to hunt down a set from another 450 specifically or will one form a 350 or 250 work as well
? "

____ Since your old shaft has become as junk (only due-to it's ruined gear-teeth), it's bottom tip-end could still possibly be salvaged to be employed as an extension-piece so as to be used for adapting a shorter 350-shaft within your 450-engine.
The saved tip-end would have to be machined-off similarly as I had once done, as seen in the thread at this link... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1596&p=11651#p11651
You'd just have-to cut it's finished length to more fully suit the 350-shaft (which you may likely more economically acquire).

Hopeful-Cheers,

thanks for the help bob, and others..
bob, my widecase scrambler employs the old electronics as used on the previous n/c scrambler models (without the regulator box), boxy type fenders, old style tank and seat, auxiliary switch on tail light housing,

____ Those features do indeed describe the original/1967 'early w-c.Scrambler' model !
__ You may wish to read-through the related thread at this link... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1801

" auxiliary switch on tail light housing, "

____ That's not a valid/stock-feature of any Scr.model made after 1965 !
__ Your early w-c.Scrambler originally employed the same entire electrical-system as the 1966 n-c.250-Scrambler, which included a battery-powered brake-light (which didn't have any use for the old [AC.type] tail-lamp bypass-switch) !
