250 Monza: which rear view mirrors?

Postby cooperplace » Sun May 11, 2014 10:48 am

The 250 Monza I'm reassembling hasn't got any rear view mirrors. To keep me safe and in compliance with the law, they are needed. Does anyone have any recommendations, with a view to being (i) reasonable quality (ii) in keeping withe the style.

Thanks!

Maybe something lightweight and compact, made for bicycles?
Mirrycle has a good quality convex lens, and there's a bar end fitting model.
Black plastic mostly.

On the Mach 1 I have a CRG Blindside and on the bitsa I have one akin to this:

I had a pair of mirrors on the bitsa but one came loose and flew off.

I really like the CRG Blindside better. They come in a couple sizes, the one you see on my bike is the small one.

The problem for me with vintage mirrors is there is no place to mount them on clip-ons, and the mirror and stalk are both so big they look out of place on the little Ducatis.

I just remembered... the blindside is about a $45 item and that does not include the mount that is required to be placed inside the end of the handlebar or clip-on for that style of mounting.

The total tab is likely to be USD $80 plus shipping. But still, they are less conspicuous, they (in my experience) grip better and the mirror is convex for a pretty good view from such a small mirror.
