350 N/C Gear change main-shaft end float

Hi all. I hope everyone had a good Christmas, although it seems an age away now.
Over the winter I have been rebuilding my N/C 350 engine. New piston and re-bore thanks Nigel, great job!, Crank re-build, vapor blasted cases, etc.
Now I am checking shims and tolerances before final fit. My question is; I seem to have quite a bit of end float in the gear change main-shaft (Item 39 in the exploded view of the engine), but I can not fined any reference to what it should be it the manual or mick walkers singles restoration book. Can anyone please point me in the right direction to what the tolerance should be?
Thanks Dave.
