Adjusting clutch pressure plate

Hello,

I just reassembled the clutch basket and was wondering how much tension needs to be present.
The shop manual says to keep 5mm protruding from the surface of the lock nut.
I did just that and tried to operate the clutch and it seems stiffer that what I remembered when the bike last ran.
Is there a "method" I need to follow to adjust the pressure plate tension?
Also, do the screws that go over the 6 springs need to be tightened all the way?

Thanks

-Adrian

Adjust the cable barrel at the clutch lever to where it's in about the mid-range of adjustment. Then turn the adjuster screw on the pressure plate in until all the cable slack at the lever has been taken up. Then back off the adjuster screw about half a turn and tighten the locknut. You want maybe 2mm of slack at the lever. The clutch spring screws should be tightened all the way down to the posts on the clutch hub. Careful not to overtighten. If they aren't tight the screws will back out and hit the clutch cover. Matt
