Last year I worked on a friends 250 Mototrans and it ran well after my tinkering.
As it's a collector bike for him, it is seldom used. He called me this week saying it smokes badly now. Yeah, like fog the garage out within a couple minutes!
Within the last 6 months the float and petcocks leaked and fuel washed down the cylinder and with it the oil film. As a result the piston corroded a bit and stuck the rings. I changed the oil which was diluted and ran it through a couple heat cycles to no avail. I have it apart and need a ring set as I had to break the oil ring to get it out as no amount of soaking or heating loosened it up.
Does anyone know what the part number for a std ring set is? Or which vender to contact?
Thanks in advance,
Mosquito fogger

Re: Mosquito fogger
Bit of a nightmare replacing rings unless you know exactly what you have,
Have a word with Nigel at Lacey engineering (Lacey Ducati)
http://www.laceyducati.com/ducati-parts ... 069d4ea349
Or for not a lot of money he will sell you an excellent piston and ring set which is the safe way out.
