Here on the Isle of Man for the inaugural Classic TT (Old Manx GP) and have just watched Doug Snow win the Privateer 500 Class on his 350 Sebring :D . Doug was running the 350 in the 500 race for an extra ride in the predominantly 500 filled grid apart from the odd 350 Honda K4, none of which were in front.

The bike owned by Doug's father John, is the result of many years of constant development. John is one of my longest standing customers, for whom I have built engines and worked with on ideas over many years. The engine and bike feature many special parts developed by John including a six speed gearbox and the slippery fairing. The bike is fitted with a Desmo head built, modified and tuned by myself a few years ago.

In a race filled with modern replica bikes with top TT riders, a stunning performance on a humble Sebring based race bike. The bike features all original castings, crank, rear hub and frame, so in my mind Doug can also claim the first "classic" bike home.

Admittedly helped by the appalling rate of attrition from the brand new "modern classics" unable to make it round the 150mile 4 lap race.

You may note the average speed of 98.075mph over the 150 mile race, those who know the TT circuit will even more appreciate this performance.

Doug unlike some of the hired hands, is back in the garage now preparing the bike himself for the 350 Race on Monday!

Nigel - that certainly was an amazing result, and congrats to Doug, and to yourself for the work you did. Doug's machine is proof that Ducati singles can be made to go quick without going bang!

Absolutely phenomenal performance! Congratulations to Doug and to all of the people that helped him.
Thanks for reporting that Nigel. :)

I love the lack of sponsor stickers on his beautiful bike!

As someone who has ridden a Sebring for daily transportation for many years (and continues to do so) this heart-warming post reaffirms my contention that the Sebring is the most underrated of all Ducati singles.

Congratulations and thank you!

98 mph average over 150 miles on the Manx TT course....enough said! :o

Congrats Doug and Nigel. A legendary effort.

Best of luck for the main game tomorrow, that's quite some "warm up" for it! :D

Congratulations on this performance Doug and Nigel. That's a gorgeous looking fairing, but hides what I'm sure, is an equally well engineered machine. Any chance of some detail photos, sans fairing? Porn for the engineering nerds!

Cheers,

Stewart D

Alright. We've all heard how lousy is the port shapes on Ducati singles, and how tuning options are limited.
But this is a remarkably fast bike. How can it be?
Full marks to all involved.

not one thing to be embarrassed of in that. quite the opposite, I'd say. job well done by all involved in the effort. I'd love to see a lap from on board. modern quality video of a classic bike being wrung out!
