Hello,
I just saw a commercial for the show American restoration, it looks like they are restoring a 64 duc. Couldn't tell the model. It airs this Tuesday on the history channel.

They did a great job but thats crazy money to spend on a 2-stroke bike

____ Right-NOW on the Discovery-Channel, is the brand-new (never-before televised episode #2) program called 'Philly Throttle', featuring a "62" Ducati 250 Mark-III !
If you're currently missing this first-showing, then ya may catch the same episode when it's rerun at midnight/E.time (in about 90-minutes from now).

UPDATE... The program just ended, (it also featured a BSA-twin).
The fellas (in the featured shop), didn't seem to realize what Duke-model they were actually dealing-with, and the program briefly viewed a plaque which stated: " 1965 250 Mach I ". _ But from what I was able to see of it, that Ducati-250 model appeared to be a pre-1964 'Diana Mark III' !
I, for one, will watch that same show again, next hour !
Hey any fellow-members outside of the USA, please let us know if you also get to see that program televised in YOUR country.
It would also be nice to learn if I have actually managed to get my heads-up notice posted in-time for any others of us here within the U.S., so-as to have also caught the program-showing this-night. _ (Nick - our most-western USA.member with a Mark-III, certainly ought-to be able to watch the program re-televised at-least once [about 6-hours from now] !)
__ It sure would be nice & great if the fella who owns that Duke, turns-out becoming one of our members !

DUKE-Cheers,
-Bob

Is this the show with Rick the owner with cut off sleeves and a son with a dog?
If so we get it in Australia but I wouldn't let them restore a bike of mine.
Must be a different show? They usually resto coke machines and petrol pumps.

____ THAT-show would be the established TV.program named: "American Restoration", which has been shown on the 'History Channel' for quite some time now.
Whereas this new-TV.show named: 'Philly Throttle' is being shown on the 'Discovery Channel'.

" Must be a different show? "

____ So yes, the two shows are two completely different TV.programs !
Sorry for any such confusion but, I didn't think it was worth starting another/new thread just to merely announce what I had discovered, when there was already another similar thread already available (on the 1st.page of thread-topics) to make additional use of.

____ Upon watching the show a 2nd.time, I then noted that the tail-light on the Duke was not original to a pre-1964 Mark-III, but I believe that that tail-light was added so-as to make the M.III-Duke street-able, (as it also carried a L.plate).
That older Mark-III was-not originally intended to be street-legal,, and the top-man (in the show) seemed to be aware that it WAS a "Ducati racer", although no-one in the show used the name 'Diana' (which was highly unusual), or the name 'Mark-III', either.
__ Wish I could've been there offering my help !
The bit-part about the wiring to the ign.coil didn't seem to me like it was all on the up&up for exactly-why the engine originally wasn't starting-up. _ The entire show should've been just about the Duke alone, so that more details could then have been included (and we may've then got-to the REAL-reason for why it wasn't starting-up)...
It's a shame they never covered their reason for replacing the original SSI.carb !
__ Clearly the producers of the show don't have the insight for realizing exactly what-all makes such programs PARTICULARLY-interesting to those of us types who like to watch such-stuff. _ I'm afraid that, (unlike American Restoration), 'Philly Throttle' will be a 1-season 'TV.flop'.

Hopeful-Cheers,
-Bob

I saw that show, and was very happy to see a Ducati single being featured on a TV show. I was also happy to see a REAL vintage bike shop doing ACTUAL work to NORMAL peoples Bikes.
I hope the show sticks around and I hope the shop makes some money. They did that restoration of the MarkIII for $2000 and aparently didn't make any money off of it. I had to laugh when the owner brought it in and said his budget was $2000. they didn't show them do any work to the engine, which aparently wasn't ran since 1968, I find that a little hard to believe. I was afraid they were going to screw the bike up but was relieved they left it pretty much stock. the owner of the shop seems to like things to be stock, which i like. If they can build up a Ducati for $2000 i might have to take them a project, maybe i will be on TV

I saw two episodes that I had DVR'd last night. I really like the show but I kind of question if he really restores the bikes in the short time they say he does. A week to restore the Ducati single?

I was a little surprised that he would just go ahead and spray bomb the frame of such a nice bike instead of using a real paint gun and compressor to paint the frame.

The show made me want to get back to my two '60s Ducati single projects. It's been ages since I've posted here.
