" So, what are the alternative carbs I can get my hands on and use in place of the Dell'Orto ??? "
____ Since you seem willing to make-use of a non-stock carb,, then how-about one that's not-only more modern, but also with down-to-earth pricing ? ...
__ I suggest a carb.model from a 125 to 185 Honda-single, such as the likes-of...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-1975-Honda ... 4e&vxp=mtr , or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB125-Car ... 9d&vxp=mtr , but not necessarily either of THOSE two examples. _ Just search for such on eBay.
__ I believe the carb.models intended for 125-Hondas are 24mm, while those for 185-models may be 26mm. _ And while the 185-model carbs are with a diameter-size that's a bit over-sized, THEY ought-to be already jetted close-enough.
__ The only problem which causes carbs such as these from being a straight-forward bolt-on job, is that their manifold-flange stud-holes will need to be enlarged by drilling-out their pair of 6.5mm mounting-holes only-just towards the direction required for matching-up to the slightly-different stud-spacing of that of the 8mm-studs in the 160-head. _ And that job can be done simply enough with the carb.body viced-down on a drill-press, with a 21/64ths drill-bit.
Hopeful-Cheers,
