Hi Folks,

I bought a trailer load of parts last August 2012 as a project a narrow case and wide case ,sorted out what I wanted and sold the narrow case parts on to help finance the build. There was too much missing to keep both.



Purchased an ex high school polishing machine and set about cleaning and polishing up the alloy parts.



Got the frame and other parts ready to be blasted and coated.



Centre stand had rusted through so made a jig with what was there and fabricated a new one.







Relaced the wheels with stainless spokes and fitted with new boots.



Machined up new swing arm pin and new ctr stand pin.

.

Had some cycle parts stripped and re-chromed



Frame and parts coated ready for assembly.









Blasted the cases barrel and head with aluoxide first then finished with glass beads.





Works wonders on carbs as well with a low pressure setting.



Crank split and cleaned.



New rod and rebuild





Bore honed ready for new piston and rings.



And finally a 12v generator and electronic ignition

Looks fantastic so far, great job.
did you grind your swingarm pin or cut it?
do you have more pictures of rebuilding the crank? the fixture you used, how did you ballance it true it ect...?
looks like you have a very nice shop with pleanty of tools at hand,

I really love to see these projects being done and to such a high standard. Present day Ducati should feel lucky to have guys like you doing restorations like this to their old bikes. It will only serve to bring motorcycle enthusiasts into the Ducati family even if just to purchase modern bikes.

You must have your own wealth of knowledge being as you weren't here asking any questions before you just recently showed up. Not that there aren't other forums doing what we are doing, but when work of this caliber is exhibited it has to backed up with a massive amount of experience and devotion.

Cheers jim, I have some knowledge of the two valve belt drives but this is my first bevel which has caught my attemtion looking forward in heading upto the pre65 trial at Kinlochleven in May (to spectate) this is held on the old aluminium smelter pipeline prior to the International 6 day trial at Fort William.

First question tho, does anyone have an allen screw list for the engine lengths and quantity that they could post or pm to me?
As i stated this came as a large box of bits, all the engine was stripped and loosly assembled I cant find anyone in the uk that has an engine set can get them from the states by the time I pay postage and import duty it gets very expensive for an engine bolt set.
It would also save me the laborious task of trying and measuring each size I have fabed up a set of engine mount bolts by threading m8 stainless rod and welding a nut to one end then polishing out.

Hi the pin was machined in the lathe, I had a press from a few years age when I raced two stroke's but gave it to a friend so had to head over to his to get a wee shot of it, I dont have pics of the set up sorry. It was a 2" cylinder with a small hand pump which had about 15ton in pressure, set onto a square plate top and bottom with four I think it was m28 studding which so happened to be at hand in each corner nothing special crude but effective. The crank was trued up using two V blocks and dial gauge. It worked on a screaming two stroke!

Nice build, it's going to be a very nice bike.
Nice workshop. Would you be the same Sam with a TT ? Your work shop looks familiar ?

Have a look at the main motoscrubs site and open the parts manual and make a list of the engine Alen bolts.
I can't open the manual on the iphone but a pc should be able to open it.

Forgot to post these pics, the tank had a few large dents in it so decided to give a try and remove them.



I used a couple of pieces of 16mm round bar with a bend in the end one greater than the other, then ground and polished the tip of the round bar.





Inserting the bar through the petrol (gas) hole I them proceded to gently prise the dent out.





A wee polish using a 3m rolock scothbrite disc. Hopefully when the tank comes back from the painters it will be fine.
